Detective Byomkesh Bakshy: Sushant Singh Rajput confirms sequel to Satyanweshi's adventures

Now, Sushant Singh Rajput has confirmed the sequel of the 2015 mystery film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! Sushant treated his fans to a question-and-answer session on Twitter on Sunday (July 3) evening. When one fan asked him if there will be a sequel to the Dibakar Banerjee film, Sushant replied by saying, "Yes." The note on which Detective Byomkesh Bakshy ended pretty much hinted at a sequel in the offing. Dibakar Banerjee was credited for bringing Sharadindu Bondyopadhyay's dhoti-clad detective to mainstream Bollywood. The non-Bengali-speaking audience's most memorable introduction to Byomkesh was in the 90s' TV series Byomkesh Bakshi. Rajit Kapur played the role of the Satyanweshi - Truth Seeker - in the TV series. Asked which director Sushant dreams to work with, the actor named Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who has directed hits like Interstellar and Inception. The Kai Po Che star will soon be seen in director Neeraj Pandey's MS Dhoni - The Untold Story, a biopic on cricket icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni, which is slated to release on September 30 this year. When Rajput was asked by a fan to name his favourite cricketer, he replied by saying, "Dhoni". When Detective Byomkesh Bakshy hit the screens in April last year, all eyes were set on Sushant and Dibakar. While the film could not match up to the initial hype, it is yet to be seen if Dibakar is able to gift Byomkesh fans a memorable trip to the theatre this time around. Apart from Sushant in the lead role, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy featured Neeraj Kabi, Divya Menon, Swastika Mukherjee and Anand Tiwari in key roles.
